Organic Peru Decaf – Pioneer Single Origin

Organic Peru Decaf – Pioneer Single Origin

We believe that decaffeinated coffee can taste as good (and in many cases, better) than a standard espresso.

This coffee is grown and harvested by farmers who have an average farm size of about 20 hectares. Rather than processing their own coffee they deliver cherry to a local wet mill. The mill will sort and process this as washed coffee by pulping the cherry to first remove the fruit. After the outer layer of the fruit is removed the coffee is fermented then washed and dried.

All producers are organic certified.

Coffee is then sent for decaffeination by Swiss Water, a chemical-free decaffeination process that retains as much flavour as possible.

Tasting Notes:

Rich chocolate, nuts and gentle balanced fruit notes.

Brewing:

This coffee works well for all brew methods.

Filter: Dose 15g, water 250g.

Espresso: Dose 17 gram to 40 gram yield over about 30 seconds.

Grinds explained

We do sell pre ground coffee and all of our freshly roasted beans can be ground to suit your brew method, although we highly recommend purchasing a good quality burr grinder, and grinding coffee fresh for best results.

We offer espresso (fine grind) for your home espresso machine or stovetop, and filter/cafetière (medium to coarse) grind for filter machines, pour over, and cafetière brew methods.

You will find more delicate flavours and higher caffeine in our light roast coffee, while a medium ‘Italian style’ roast will have a more tobacco flavour from the longer roast profile.

We cannot guarantee that the espresso grind will work with all coffee machines due to differences in pressure and basket size.
